Science 14 & 24
By relating science to everyday life, these courses help students acquire a foundation of knowledge in the natural sciences and understand that science is a unique way of seeking knowledge. These courses also encourage students to have a positive attitude toward science through understanding the relationship between science, technology and society. Knowledge and Employability students complete Science 14 and 24.
PRE-REQUISITE: less than 50% in Science 9
SCIENCE 10
Science 10 consists of four units of study that allows students to gain experience in the disciplines of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology and how these disciplines contribute to our understanding of global change.
PRE-REQUISITE: 50% or higher in Science 9
SCIENCE 10AP

In Science 10 AP, students cover the Alberta Program of Studies. In addition, selected topics in Physics, Biology and Chemistry are incorporated to prepare students for the discipline AP courses. Students in Science 10 AP should have a strong background in mathematics and enjoy problem solving.
PRE-REQUISITE: 80% or higher in Science 9
SCIENCE 20 & 30

Science 20 and 30 are general science courses with a focus on helping students build scientific literacy through understanding the scientific principles behind the natural events they experience and the technology they use in their everyday lives. This stream is designed for students pursuing  non-science related areas in post-secondary studies.
PRE-REQUISITE: 50% or higher in previous level Science
Biology 20 & 30

Biology is the study of life and living systems from the molecular level to the biosphere. Through the study of biology, students are given an opportunity to explore and understand the natural world and to become aware of the profound influence of biology in their lives. The major science concepts developed in Biology 20 are energy, equilibrium, matter and systems.
PRE-REQUISITE: 60% or higher in Science 10
Biology 20AP & 30 AP

The AP Biology program is intended for students who have displayed a serious interest in the study of biology. The AP Biology program, over two years, covers material equivalent to what a student would study in a first year university biology class, and students who achieve an acceptable standard on the AP Biology exam have the advantage of being awarded credit in introductory biology in their first year of post-secondary studies.
PRE-REQUISITE: 80% or higher in Science 10
Chemistry 20 & 30

Chemistry is the study of matter, its changes, and its laws. Starting with an historical approach, the program introduces the major concepts of Chemistry while developing an awareness of the nature of science and the issues facing society.
PRE-REQUISITE: 60% or higher in Science 10
Chemistry 20AP & 30 AP

The AP Chemistry student has the benefit of completing, over the course of two years, a University level introductory chemistry course. Students who achieve an acceptable standard on the AP Chemistry exam may receive credit for first year chemistry, both science and engineering students alike.
PRE-REQUISITE: 80% or higher in Science 10
Physics 20 & 30

Physics is the study of matter, energy and their interactions. Through the study of Physics, students are given an opportunity to explore and understand the natural world and to become aware of the profound influence of Physics in their lives.
PRE-REQUISITE: 60% or higher in Science 10
Physics 20AP & 30AP

The AP Physics program, over two years, covers material equivalent to what a student would study in a first-year university physics class, and students who achieve an acceptable standard on the AP Physics exams have the advantage of being awarded credit in introductory physics in their first year of post-secondary studies.
PRE-REQUISITE: 80% or higher in Science 10
